Happy Halloween!

Reading & Responding
Math: On Oct 29, we will be taking our Unit 2 assessment.

Social Studies: Age of Exploration: What were some of the risks that explorers faced? How were Indigenous People affected by European exploration?

Math Touchpoint:
We are beginning our new unit all about multiplying and dividing fractions! As noted in prior blogs, typically fractions can be conceptually tricky for students to grasp. To support your student’s learning at home, helping them connect fractions to everyday activities such as cooking, sharing, time, measurement, etc. is key. This week, in Section A, we will be working with story problems that involve multiplication of two fractions.
For example:
Problems may also look like this:
With sample responses looking like this:
Fall Party, Halloween Costumes, & More
Students may wear a costume to school on Halloween, but any part of the costume that goes over the hands or face should only be worn during the party or parade. Please don’t wear anything that would frighten our littles.
Our classroom parties will be from 2:15 - 3:15 with a schoolwide parade at 3:15. (Thank you to all the parents volunteering to make this happen).
After Halloween, we encourage healthy snacks during snack time and only water. Please refrain from sending in Halloween candy for snack time at school.
Field Trips
If you have not turned in your field trip form, please do so as soon as possible. Thanks!

Homework:
Please read at least 25 minutes each day.
Consider reading and discussing a book together.
Ask:
Who was the chapter about?
What happened?
Where and when did that happen?
How did that happen?
Why do you think the character did that?
