January 26, 2025

What will fifth graders be learning this week?

  • Positivity Project Focus: Love

  • Literacy: EL Module 2: Biodiversity of the Rainforest > Looking Closer at the Parts of a Literary Analysis Essay & Author’s Craft

    • Similes, Metaphors, & Idioms

    • Choosing a Focus Statement

    • Using Quotes → Choosing and Explaining Quotes

  • Math: Partial Quotient Long Division & Final Assessment on Unit 4 on Tuesday 1/25 (moved due to 2 snow days).

  • Social Studies: Causes of the American Revolution - The Stamp Act

  • Science: Chemical Magic: Mystery #3 - What would happen if you drank a glass of acid?

Math Touchpoint

This week we will continue reviewing the partial quotient algorithm for multi-digit division.

For more information about the partial quotient method, please see this video.

Please be sure to check out the entire Checkpoint A that should come home tomorrow (if it did not come home on Friday). As we continue to move forward in math, it’s important that students retain our prior learning. With all of our snow days and time off, many students struggled to retain their learning surrounding fraction multiplication and division. We will continue to loop back on those standards, but any additional support you can provide at home will only help. Thank you!
