Math Touchpoint and Looking Ahead
Students have been doing so well working with fractions in this unit! Our next section of Unit 3 focuses on fraction division. As we’ve talked with students and worked through various mathematical thinking problems, it has become very clear that division is a concept that the majority of 5th graders are not feeling comfortable with. Just as it is important for students to understand and be able to quickly and accurately recall multiplication facts, so too is it important for students to understand and be confident with division. Continuing to practice math facts and relating multiplication to division is key. Any support you can provide with this at home would be greatly appreciated as we embark on our journey to master Unit 3 learning goals (see below).
To support students with this portion of our unit, here are some helpful learning videos:

Report Card Information
Dear Families:
As shared at Back to School Night, we are piloting new ELA instructional materials in grades K-5. This resource offers a rigorous, knowledge building approach for our learners, engaging students in reading, writing, listening and speaking. While our commitment to addressing essential ELA standards has not changed, the order and manner in which standards are assessed in this pilot may be different than in past years. As such, you may not see a reported measure for every ELA standard on your child’s report card. Please also refer to the comments provided by your child’s teacher, as well as ongoing communication and conferencing, regarding your child’s progress in ELA. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
