This week we will continue reviewing the partial quotient algorithm for multi-digit division. As noted below, students have already worked with this method in 4th grade, however, in fifth grade we take a step up to working with two-digit divisors.

Ice Skating
Our first field trip is right around the corner. On Tuesday, January 14th, we will walk to the John and Dede Howard Ice Arena. Each fifth-grade class will be going at a separate time.

Sarett Nature Center Field Trip, February 7th - Lunch Count & Chaperones Needed
Our field trip to Sarett Nature Center will be here before we know it. On Friday, February 7th, we will depart to Sarett Nature Center for cross country skiing. If the weather does not support this activity, then we will participate in geocaching onsite.
LUNCH COUNT: By Monday, January 13th, please fill out and return the lunch form to determine if you will be sending a sack lunch with your student OR if a sack lunch is needed. The paper should be in your student’s Friday folder.
CHAPERONES: We could use some chaperones for this trip from 9:30 - 2:00 on February 7th at Sarett Nature Center. Please let us know by Friday, January 17th if you are interested in chaperoning this trip.
